My stories run up and bite me on the leg – I respond by writing down everything that goes on during the bite. When I finish, the idea lets go and runs off.
Preparation is key and easy to accomplish by taking a small notebook with you wherever you go. Put one by your bedside table. Leave one in your backpack or the glove compartment in your car. You never know when an idea will hit you and you’ll be better prepared for those quick silver moments of inspiration striking if you are ready with paper in hand. You’re a writer. Act like it. “A writer writes…always.”
