It’s the season…no, not just for t.v. and film awards, but also for the highly coveted and anticipated ‘best of the best’ in the publishing world. Last Thursday, the National Book Critics Circle announced the winners for the 2011 National Book Awards. Some choices surprised us, others we fully expected to be honored. The National Book Critics Circle Awards are the only American awards chosen by the critics themselves, seeking every year to “honor the best literature published in English” as well as to “foster a national conversation about reading, criticism and literature.” The following are some of those who landed the prize.
