LitStaff Pick: The Best Books We Read This Year

Before I Go to Sleep by https://i0.wp.com/1.bp.blogspot.com/-WqSABUVGRsM/TwEtzctGPZI/AAAAAAAAN7Q/B7QWjDVg1Jo/s1600/2-book-sleep-art-g3fd8usq-10710-before-i-go-to-sleep.jpg?resize=263%2C270S.J. Watson

By the time I get to the end of the year, the first half of the year feels like it happened centuries ago and the second half feels like it happened yesterday. Basically, the best book I read in 2012 really becomes the best book I read the last six months of 2012 because I can’t remember if the dozens of books I read earlier in the year were read this year or five years ago. That doesn’t make my choice any less valid, though!

As busy as I’ve been lately, Before I Go to Sleep was so interesting that I read all 300+ pages in two days. I almost pulled an all-nighter to finish the book. Back in middle school and high school, I pulled all-nighters to finish books all the time, but back then I didn’t have to wake up early and work all day. In spite of how busy I am, Before I Go to Sleep made me feel compelled to stop working and finish the book. Even more, it reminded me why I loved fiction.
