LitStaff Pick: Our Favorite Plot Twists

The Cove
Ron Rash

In the prologue of Ron Rash’s novel, The Cove, a surveyor finds a human skull in an old forgotten well. Then the story jumps back in time several decades and we meet Laurel and her brother who live in an isolated cabin in the mountains of North Carolina. A stranger arrives in their woods one day – a mysterious man who changes their lives forever. The further into the story I read, the more convinced I was of whose skull would end up in the well. But I was wrong and the answer was a complete surprise. Read my original review of this wonderful story with an unexpected plot twist here.
