Books I Was Too Young to Read But Read Anyway

My mother has always been a big reader, and it is from her that I get my love of books. I remember her taking random literature classes through the community college all throughout my childhood and bringing home stacks of books. Of course, I always wanted to read whatever she was reading, so I ended up reading a lot of what would be deemed “age INappropriate” books. For example, I read Jean Auel’s Earth’s Children series when I was about 10 or 11. My mother never told me that I “shouldn’t” read a certain book, or that a book was “too old” for me. Nothing was off limits, and I was free to read whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. I truly believe that that open atmosphere helped grow my level of maturity, and it definitely contributed to my love of reading.
