My favorite book about writers and writing is The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. As a lover of fiction and a writer myself, I was drawn to the plot. A young biographer named Margaret Lea finds a letter one night from a well-known novelist asking her to write her biography. After reading an old copy of the author’s stories, Margaret agrees to write the book and to hopefully discover the answers to some of her burning questions. Setterfield’s novel is full of intrigue, family, loss, secrets, and ghosts from the past. She builds a wonderful backdrop that lured me in and wouldn’t let me leave until well after I read the last page. I highly recommend this novel to lovers of writing, mysteries, and historical fiction.
