Fantasy Books We’d Loved to See on Film

Homeland by RA Salvatore

What’s it about?

Drow ranger Drizzt Do’Urden, first introduced in The Icewind Dale Trilogy, quickly became one of the

fantasy genre’s standout characters. But Homeland first reveals the startling tale of how this one lone drow walked out of the shadowy depths of the Underdark, leaving behind a society of evil and a family who want him dead. It is here that the story of this amazing dark elf truly began.

Why would it look good on film?

Salvatore’s world is the rich, intricate realm of the kingdom of Menzoberranzan where dark elves rule. The story is told from a place that few have dared to tread: inside the villain’s stronghold. We don’t begin or even linger in the hero’s journey. We find ourselves in the dark world, among dark elves living in a violent, hellscape with a singular elf, Drizzt Do’Urden who questions his world. This would make a fantastic epic film, or even better, a no-holds-bar weekly series.
