J. K. Rowling fans, rejoice! Yet more of the exalted author’s works are headed for the screen –this time, the small screen, as it was announced on Wednesday that BBC One has acquired the rights to adapt her Cormoran Strike series of novels into a television drama.
Written under the non de plume of Robert Galbraith, 2013’s The Cuckoo’s Calling is the first installment of a series of books that follow the exploits of Cormoran Strike, an Afghanistan War vet turned private investigator. The Silkworm is the second novel in the series, released in 2014; more are planned but little details have been given. Both released novels have been very well received (even before it was known that Robert Galbraith was J. K. Rowling).
In her typically charming style, Ms. Rowling announced the news with the following tweet: My friend @RGalbraith’s first novel is going to be a TV drama on @BBCOne. He’s very excited, but expressing it with characteristic silence.
We here at LitStack are a bit more outgoing about it – we’re thrilled!
