Nathan Fillion's Favorite Reads
Parade Magazine conducted an enlightening interview with Brown Coat/Castle actor Nathan Fillion on
his love of books. According to the piece, Fillion says his love of the written word comes from his English teacher parents:
Whatever our bedtime was as kids, we could stay up an extra half hour if we were reading. My parents didn’t care as long as I was under the spell of a Stephen King or a Douglas Adams.”
Fillion now plays a writer on ABC’s popular cop drama Castle and it seems that the love of late night reading hasn’t changed much since his childhood in Edmonton, Canada:
Now I read in bed. I read at work. I read standing in line,” he says. “It’s like, ‘Hello, my name is Nathan and I am a reader.’”
Parades says that to maintain his habit, the 41-year-old actor keeps digital books on his smartphone and tablet, and the old-fashioned kind everywhere else. “I still buy actual books,” he says, holding up a worn paperback of Jaws and bringing it to his face with a deep inhale. “The smell, having it in your hands—there’s really no substitute.”
The following is a brief list of those books the actor simply can’t do without. What do you think, LitStackers? Are your favorite reads among Fillion’s list? We want to hear from you!
