Maya Angelou's Letter to her Teenage Self

What advice or words of wisdom would you give  to your younger self? In the debut segment of the new series “Note to Self,” CBS News asked Dr. Maya Angelou that very question.

Angelou was mute from ages eight to thirteen, and in the video reflects on that period in her life as a time of learning to listen. Without the ability to speak, Angelou tells us, “I thought of my whole body as an ear,” and came to respect all of her other senses. She encourages young people to use their senses to find inspiration in a work of art or music, and to acknowledge their common humanity with the person who created it: “No one can be more human than you, or less human.”
